Blue-Carbon Shipping: What It Means for You

By Rafael Ng6 min readFebruary 26, 2026

Every Echovelle order now offsets its emissions through mangrove & seagrass restoration in the very waters where our pearls grow.

We had the conversation in December. If we take from the sea, we owe the sea. The question was how — credibly, measurably, without inventing a new label.

Why Blue Carbon

Mangroves and seagrasses sequester carbon up to four times faster than tropical rainforests. They are also the living filtration system that lagoons depend on. Every Tahitian pearl in our vault was grown in water kept clean by the same species we now help restore.

The water gives us the pearl. This programme is how we give back.

How It Works

A portion of every order — not a fluctuating number, a fixed portion — goes directly to certified restoration partners in French Polynesia, the Philippines, and southern Japan. We report the acreage, annually, on our Sustainability page.

What You'll See at Checkout

Nothing extra to pay. No green tick to click. The figure is baked into the piece. You buy the pearl. The pearl buys back a small patch of seagrass. We think that is the quiet version of the right thing to do.
